Belkin shut down the Wemo servers on January 31, 2026. The app died with them, and so did Alexa, Google Assistant and control from outside the house.
The plugs never needed Belkin’s servers to switch on and off. They take orders from anything on your home Wi-Fi, so the fix is just using something other than Belkin’s app.
What to do
- If you run Home Assistant, add the Wemo integration. It finds them on its own.
- If you just want an app, Dibby Wemo Manager works on Windows and Linux. It’s a small, new project, so skim the README first.
- A plug that’s been factory reset has to be put back on your Wi-Fi without the Belkin app. pywemo can do it, but it’s a bit of Python.
Anything already in Apple Home keeps working. You can’t add new ones there anymore.
